“I have posted watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem; they will never be silent day or night. You who call on the Lord, give yourselves no rest, and give him no rest till he establishes Jerusalem and makes her the praise of the earth”. Isaiah 62:6-7

The eastern suburbs prayer community seeks to connect and draw together people from across the eastern suburbs of Wellington, to pray for the extension of the Kingdom of God among us. Inspired by the world-wide 24/7 prayer movement, it uses the concept of a dedicated prayer room, aiming to have people praying in relay and together, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

24/7 has been done in different ways all around the world, sometimes focusing on continuity over 24 hours. We've chosen to look more at continuity from week to week, making a committment to hold to a special time with God. When you join, we'd encourage you to try to hold to at least 75% of your booked prayer slots- no need to be legalistic, but the discipline of taking planned time out with God is good.

The community is interdenominational.  One Lord, One Body. The ‘community’ is linked not only by use of the prayer room, but also by monthly celebrations and by a website. The celebrations can be held at any church willing to host them, but hopefully in time so many people will be praying that a really big venue will be needed for celebrations!

Ultimately it’s not about prayer rooms or meetings or websites, it’s about the people of God sacrificially laying their lives (including dedicated time) before Him, saying…

“Your will be done, on earth, (in the eastern suburbs, in Wellington, in NZ…) as it is in heaven".
